Hemorrhoids during pregnancy are due to the pressure of the uterus on the vein that returns the flow of blood to the heart from the lower half of your body. This pressing on the vein causes varicose veins in the lower half of the body, varicose meaning simply – swollen. Many women have them showing in their legs during pregnancy as well as being in their rectum. Constipation is another cause of hemroids, and most women do suffer with constipation while pregnant. This is another reason for wanting to know about pain relief during pregnancy with hemroids.

An option for relief of the pain from hemorrhoids during pregnancy is making use of an icepack. Understandably, the ice numbs the area and in so doing reduces the irritation from the hemorrhoids. A further suggestion is having a hot bath for relief. There is further recommendation that you alternate between using the icepack and having the hot bath. There are several creams available for rubbing on the area for numbing the pain that you can buy over the counter from the pharmacy, but do have a chat to your doctor first, to ensure that the one that you want to use is an advisable one during this important time.

Another suggestion for pain relief during pregnancy with hemroids is to rub vitamin E on the area. These is accomplished by taking a regular vitamin E capsule and with a pin, poke a small hole into it, you are then able to hold it against your rectum and squeeze out the contents of the capsule. The next step is simply to spread the capsule contents over the whole area. The recommendation for this procedure is to do it twice a day. A further piece of advice is to do this after you have had a shower. This ensures that you are working on a clean area and not rubbing in any dust or dirt particles, and the relief you feel should last for quite a while.
